Video Response
Learning to Change, Changing to LearnThe video shows the ever-increasing need to introduce more technology into teaching. Students are spending more and more time on the internet, social-networking sites and communicating outside of school in the harsh comparison to inside school. The current implementation in schools is shockingly low and most outdated, compared to other sectors of society. One of the interviewees referred teaching as simply 'a classroom setting instead of a community' where they are not up to speed with the latest developments and are over-reliant on standardized testing and right or wrong answers.
Instead the video urges people, especially educators, to realize the importance of taking learning into the 21st century and the increasing need for such advancements. As mentioned, it starts with teachers and their enthusiasm for change in the classroom. I fully agree with what the video supports and the notion that we need to make changes for better learning.
This increasingly technological world is their world. If we are making learning real, we have no choice to not only use technology to educate but educate the use of technology.
